Lufkin Road Middle School is proud to announce that Jennie Jones has been selected the Wake County Middle School Physical Educator of the Year and is Wake County's nomination to NCAAHPERD for the State Middle School Physical Educator of the Year.

Dr. Burns submitted a letter to the Wake County community today speaking about the current budget crisis and its impact on our school system. As you know, we have had to make some difficult decisions at Lufkin over the last several months as we respond to reduced funding for next year. As the State moves to finalize its budget, we may be forced to make additional difficult decisions. Here is the letter in English and Spanish.
A booster dose of Tdap vaccine is required for all children before entering 6th grade that are enrolled in public school. By North Carolina law, students who have not received the Tdap booster by the specified date are not allowed to attend school. For students in year-round school those dates are as follows: Track 1- August 17; Track 2- September 8; Track 3- September 8; Track 4- September 4. Please take the certificate of immunization to the current elementary school prior to June 30th so they can enter the data in NCWise and record the date on your child's health card in their permanent cumulative folder.
On May 28 the LRMS PTA sponsored a presentation about birds of prey for the 6th graders. Mr. Chip Gentry, the Hawk Guy, talked about falconry and its origin. He brought four birds for the students to see: a Red-tailed Hawk, a Harris’s Hawk, a Great Horned Owl, and a Peregrine Falcon...
